What could be better than working with hand tools? Making your tools by yourself.
I found this video showing how to make mini-gouges from cylindrical steel rods found in any CD/DVD-ROM drive. The diameter is 3mm, and the hardness seems quite adequate (the claim is about 55 HRC). On the inside surface I used cylindrical diamond burr after grinding it with the cutting wheel. So far pretty happy with the result, especially considering the price.

Sculpted from two halves of the same avocado pit. I guess that makes them siblings.
Inspired by a traditional Russian wooden toy.
Balsa is too soft, lightweight and bland to my taste, so I pre-finished it with a wood-burner.
Update: finished it with danish oil.
The previous bear was an unexpected success, so I’m happy to continue the streak, working in more details.
